Subsidized Child Care
Working families may qualify for financial assistance to pay for childcare.

Whether you are attending Cheerful Beginnings Daycare, using my service to find a great daycare in the area for you, or are simply here to find information on subsidized child care in California, I hope this description is helpful.

1st Step: See if your family qualifies

Take a look at the chart below and see if your family qualifies based on your family size and income.

2nd Step: Find your Resource & Referral group

If your family currently does qualify, the next step is reaching out to the “Resource and Referral group” (R & R) for your zip code.
Use this link to find which R & R group is yours: https://www.ccala.net/connect-to-child-care/

3rd Step: Your R & R group with guide you with the rest

Your R & R will walk you through all the next steps. You’ll get paperwork to bring to the daycare of your choice. The daycare will fill it out and work with the agency. The agency visits the daycare you chose to make sure their program is a good program.

How much will it help?

The agency pays for a portion of the daycare's charge (the “regional market rate” for California) and you pay the remaining balance.
The chart below shows the maximum reimbursement amount for Los Angeles County (from this website: https://rcscc.adm.dss.ca.gov/index.aspx)

Depending on your child's age and daycare schedule, this could work out to be the state paying about $6.50/hour of the daycare's charge.
